After a successful 2015 campaign, the St. Louis SLAM women’s professional tackle football franchise is cultivating its 2016 season by hosting an open tryout this weekend in St. Louis.

The squad’s public tryout, held this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Tandy Community Center (4206 Kennerly Ave., St. Louis, MO), will give those who wish to tackle the gridiron an opportunity to join a hard-charging unit that reached the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) post-season this past June.

Registration fee for the tryout is $25 if paid in advance by applying at the SLAM’s official website. A walk-up registration on Saturday that begins at 9:30 a.m. has a fee of $35. One must bring a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance to participate.

The tryout will consist of sprints, agility, strength, conditioning and football assessments.

Participants are asked to bring workout clothes, tennis shoes (cleats, if you have them), water, a towel and a smile. No prior football experience is necessary, but one must be at least 18 years old to participate.

Its 2016 schedule, which begins in April, will be set at a later date.
